For Syrian refugees, leaving their homes and embarking on a huge journey to safety is an emotional and devastating experience. Despite all of it, this teenager has one thing to be grateful for along the way.
17-year-old Aslan Al Hakim walked from his home in Damascus, Syria, to find safety in Greece. The entire way, he carried with him a small bag, and special package: His puppy, Rose.
Aslan obtains food and water for Rose to have along the way.
The pair have been together for the entire 500 kilometers that Aslan walked from Damascus so far.
The video below introduces us to Aslan and his adorable puppy, and explains a little bit about why he'd bring her with him for the treacherous journey. His simple and heartfelt answer? "I love my dog."
