This Guy Bought Ad Time On Billboards, And Drivers Are Loving What He Did With It.
Anyone who commutes daily knows the drive can become very boring, very quickly. An endless sea of billboards advertising basically everything, are an assault on our senses. It’s not difficult to get a headache from the constant barrage of imagery that does nothing to help improve the time spent in a vehicle. Artist Brian Kane has decided to make Massachusetts’ highways a more serene experience for drivers.
Kane is using digital billboards displaying stunning images of nature. The Healing Tool art changes based on the time of day. During daylight hours, photos capturing the surrounding area are on display, like trees in a forest. At night, drivers see photos of the Milky Way and the moon.
“By removing the marketing message from the advertising space, we create an unexpected moment of introspection. People are allowed to interpret an image based on their own experience, and not necessarily with the singular focus of the advertiser’s intent,” says Kane.
There's 2-room apartments hidden behind these billboards.
