Boston Bombing Survivor Is Marrying The Fireman Who Saved Her.

On April 15, 2013, Roseann Sdoia was with many other people near the finish line of the Boston Marathon. She was watching the finishers cross the line and finish up the race when disaster struck. The first explosion happened in the crowd and while Sdoia wasn’t injured, she was shocked and confused by what had happened.

They were told to go into the streets to safety but Roseann couldn’t get there because of the steel barricade in front of her. She turned to run away from the area but unfortunately ended up running into the path of the second explosion.

Firefighter Mike Materia was one of the first responders that quickly arrived on the scene. He found Roseann and tended to her wounds. He rode with her in the ambulance to the hospital and has never left her side since. He helped her through her long recovery process and eventually they started dating. Things between them have gone so well that the couple recently got engaged during a trip to Nantucket in December. They are planning a fall wedding and it should be one happy event.

Roseann recently took part in the 40th annual Empire State Building Run-Up that has runners climbing the stairs inside the building, in a different type of marathon. She finished the climb in less than forty two minutes. It’s a great accomplishment for her given what she has been through. With Mike at her side there is nothing she can’t do. It’s another great story of good people in the world.
