15 Freaky Cacti Doing Something You Need To See To Believe.

Spring is my favorite time of year for the simple fact that I get to see flowers in bloom. The beautiful colors and wonderful fragrances are difficult to put into words. With that said, I can’t remember the last time I have ever seen a cactus plant bloom.

One photographer has devoted a lot of time and attention to change this for people. Focusing entirely on Echinopsis cactus, commonly known as the hedgehog cactus, sea-urchin cactus, or the Easter lily cactus, Greg Krehel has achieved something few people have seen.

With a DSLR camera and video-editing software, Krehel assembled a montage of several cactus plants blooming. The time-lapse images capture an eight-hour cycle per plant. What makes the video so unique is that Echinopsis cactus flowers last only one day and are at the peak of their beauty for an hour or two. Luckily for us, we are able to enjoy the beauty of these plants without having to put in a significant amount time and attention.

Here's another video of beautiful flowers blooming by Thomas Blanchard.
