He Projected Galaxies Onto This Ancient Chapel, And It’s An Out Of Body Experience.
Who says the digital world cannot be as awe-inspiring as nature? Digital artist Miguel Chevalier defies this theory with his Immersive Projection series for a fundraising campaign held at King's College Chapel for the University and Colleges of Cambridge. Though I balk at the idea of anyone experimenting on masterpieces, Chevalier's digital installations do not clash with the late Gothic Chapel. In fact, they illuminate it. It's about time the highness of research was celebrated in such glorious fashion.
As the Chapel walls saw new graphic universes, distinguished professors and alumni delivered speeches. The universes transitioned from one to the next, utilizing their own digital language to illustrate a range of subjects including Academic Excellence, Africa, Biology, Biotechnologies, Health, Neurosciences, and Physics, among others. The event concluded with a special appearance by renowned physicist Stephen Hawking who is famous for his theories on black holes.
