He Starts With Everyday Objects, But With A Clever Twist Changes Their Meaning.
Brock Davis does not use Instagram to share photos of his food or take selfies. Instead, the artist uses this platform as his medium to reimagine regular items like a cucumber and transforming it into a killer whale or tree leaves that converts into a hamburger.
The Minneapolis based digital artist just sees things differently from the rest of us. “I think everyday objects, like a spider's web, a piece of gum, a head of cauliflower, all have creative potential inside of them,” says Davis.
Many of his images come from observing everything around him. As soon as an idea pops into his head, Davis drops everything and makes it a reality. To ensure he is already for his next creation, he has his iPhone ready to click away.
"Everyone knows what a cotton swab is. But if you take it and look at it again with a different perspective, then it suddenly changes the way that people perceive it," explains Davis.
Brock Davis admits the secret of his success is not to take artwork too seriously.
"Curiosity, spontaneity and observation, which are the three things that go into a lot of my work," says Davis.
Davis has over 176,000 Instagram followers.
