Playboy Model Body Shamed A Woman At Gym, And Twitter SLAYED Her For It.

We like to think that we live during a time when the idea of body-shaming is on its way out the door. Women are more openly feminist then they've ever been, body positivity is a cause that's gained serious traction, and calling out or harassing others for their appearance often feels antiquated and archaic. Of course, that's only how we feel during the most ideal, positive days -- then something like this happens, and we're reminded just how far human beings have to go.

It all started with the Snapchat of a woman named Dani Mathers. A former Playboy playmate, Mathers intended to send a selfie to her friend via Snap when she made a huge mistake. For starters, she sent it to everyone. And in the photo, it wasn't just her: It was a selfie with a naked woman showering in the background, with some seriously body-shaming text imposed over top. Long story short: Mathers was making fun of this poor woman, and now, everyone knows it.

The photo has since been shared (despite the fact that she removed it) and the backlash has been deservedly intense. Read more of the troubling story below.

This disgusting display of body shaming was accidentally shared with all of Mathers' followers (she'd originally intended to just share it with a friend). Backlash ensued, and Mathers quickly deleted the post and made this video. In it, she apologizes -- but seems to only apologize for accidentally sharing it with other people.

If her apology seems half-hearted, that's because it is. Not to worry: Many have taken to Twitter to shame her for her transgression.

Some let her know that doing something like this shows her true character.

Others wanted to tell her that they could see through her positive public image and straight to her clear insecurities.

Mostly, people weren't about to quickly forget that she'd gotten caught red-handed, acting like a total jerk.
