25 Female Celebrities Who Look Hotter In Suits Than Your Husband Ever Could.
According to a 2014 article published in Levo, the liberation of women through more breathable clothing arrived in the 1920s with Coco Chanel's "woman's new uniform."
In 1966, Yves Saint Laurent introduced le smoking, the "first male-inspired couture evening suit with pants for women." It was considered to be very provocative.
By the 80s, suits as symbols of power rose into popularity and were embraced by big-name fashion designers such as Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren, and Anne Klein.
In more recent years, however, power dressing has been seeing a decline among the female population. Armani noted, “[Women] have edged out their standing in the world. Today, they don’t have to wear a suit jacket to prove their authority.”
While this is true for some women, especially for those who find freedom in reclaiming femininity, there are still a good number who prefer to sport suits over dresses. And they are looking pretty damn sexy.
