These Enchanting Dresses Are Fairytales You Can Wear… I Want The Last One.
Angela Clayton is an 18-year-old girl with an unbelievable talent: She designs incredible gowns that look like they were taken directly from a scene in a Disney movie, and she even taught herself to do it.
The Long Island native's dresses are elaborate, complete with lighting mechanisms and tons of wonderful detail. She's been making dresses for about four years, and wants to continue creating for as long as she can.
“I hope that there is a future career that I will get out of it,” Clayton said in an interview with Cosmopolitan. “If I could do that for fashion, especially for theater or film, that would be awesome…I would rather go straight into that if I can instead of spending four years at school.”
Whichever path she decides to take, there's no denying that her work is otherworldly. See some of Clayton's gowns below.
Her projects can take up to 250 hours to complete.
Once, she even used a total of 12 yards of fabric for a costume.
She started sewing when she was just 14 years old.
“The first thing I really finished was a school uniform from an anime show when I was 14. It took me about two months."
She's also in the midst of a project now. “I have one that I’ve been working on since January and I’m still not done with it, but I hopefully will be finishing it soon.”
Clayton says that part of her intuition comes naturally, but also that creating gowns like this takes plenty of patience and practice.
“I really enjoy doing it. I love making costumes and I love bringing ideas to life," she said.
