Bill Gates Wants To Talk To You About Poop… And Why You Should Drink More Of It.
This machine is called the Omniprocessor, built by Janicki Bioenergy, and it's capable of turning real sewage sludge into clean drinking water— clean enough that Bill Gates would pour himself a cup and enjoy a sip. Don't believe me? Just watch.
In a world of over 7 billion people, about 2 billion of them use outdoor toilets that don't drain properly, while others simply do their business out in the open. It's a stomach wrenching reality when the effects of this human contamination take the lives of about 700,000 children each year while impairing those that survive from growing healthy and strong.
In those countries it isn't possible to use the toilet systems from the western world. These places are still in their early developing stages, and there is a lack of infrastructure to support advanced waste systems. But with the Omniprocessor all that waste can be burned at 1000 degrees Celsius— a temperature so high that there's no smell when it's burned— and turned into clean water and electricity.
The coming versions of the Omniprocessor will be able to process the waste of 100,000 people. This would create 250 kw of electricity ( enough energy to power 2,500 light bulbs if each were 100 watts each), and about 86,000 liters of water (enough to fill about 318 average sized bath tubs) each day.
