This Flower Festival In Portugal Is A Delicious Treat For The Eyes. Just Look At Those Canopies!
Its nickname is the Festas de Povo, or "People's Festival" in Portuguese, and it's one of the most gorgeous sights you'll ever behold. Officially known as the Flowers Festival, and it's the result of months of effort, crafting, and community volunteerism.
Located in the largest Portuguese region of Alentejo, the Flowers Festival is a community effort that will take your breath away: thousands of paper flowers strewn about the town, in a celebration of life, color, and beauty. The last festival was four years ago, and this year's is reportedly better than ever. See photos from this incredible festival below.
There are two impressive things about this festival: One is the amount of time and effort it takes to string and display this volume of flowers throughout the town.
The other is that the flowers themselves are all handmade, unique, and incredibly detailed.
