These Fountains Use Water To Create An Unusual Effect… And It’s Stunning.
Polish sculptor Małgorzata Chodakowska has made a name for herself by creating unique, moving sculptures and statues that actually feel like they have a human-like presence in the room. Now, she's taken her work a step further and added water, creating bronze statues that double as spectacular fountains.
The water erupts from the statues in unlikely places, creating a sense of motion that only adds to her figures' life-like qualities. Some fountains give the appearance as if the statues are playing in the water, while the water creates emergent shapes on others. See Chodakowska's compelling work below.
Here, the water emerges from the fountain's hair to create a sense of spectacular motion.
The artist starts by carving the statues from wood.
Each of the hollowed out wood statues are plated with bronze, then covered with small holes for the fountain water.
When the statue is connected to a water jet, the bronze statues come to life.
This statue, from a series called "Primavera," is perhaps Chodakowska's best work: Bronze and water work in harmony to create a dynamic piece of art.
