An 11-Year-Old Boy With Autism Stepped Up To The Whiteboard… No One Expected What Happened Next.
Autism can refer to a wide variety of developmental disorders, all of which affect the brain. Though there are many ways that autism manifests itself from person to person, many autistic people struggle with communication, socialization, speaking, and understanding language. No two people with autism are alike, which is what keeps the condition shrouded in mystery, mixed opinions, and unfortunate stereotypes.
The professor of this university class has likely encountered some of these issues with her 11-year-old son, who is autistic. She also recognized that, like many autistic people, her son possessed the special talent of an insanely detailed (and possibly photographic) memory.
She brought her little boy into her classroom to show of his amazing skill: He can draw an entire map of the world, completely from memory.
One of the professor's students captures this amazing moment on camera. Check out the photos below.
