No One Showed Up For This 9 Year-Old’s Birthday, So The ENTIRE Town Did This…
Gerald Hamilton turned 9 years old on March 20th, but only recently did the little boy get the birthday celebration of his dreams.
Every three years for his entire life, Gerald has undergone a series of brain surgeries that have left him with some developmental problems. Despite that, he wanted to have a birthday party with other kids. He sent out 30 invitations, and 12 kids RSVP'd yes. On the day of the party, Gerald decorated his house, filled goody bags, and waited for the other kids to show up.
Sadly and without explanation, nobody did.
His mom tried to cut the cake, but Gerald stopped her, saying that someone was going to show up. Mom called the parents of the other kids, but in an appalling turn of events, all the parents said that Gerald was "too different for their kids to play with."
That's when his grandmother wrote this message on Facebook.
Since then, the gifts and cards and letter have been pouring in for this rad, brave little boy.
The community caught wind of it as well, and Gerald got to do things like visit the fire house.
He also got to meet some of his favorite characters.
Many members of the community stepped in to make Gerald's birthday the best he's ever had.
"He was really sad the day of his party, but now says he finally feels like it's his birthday because he's getting cards," Gerald's mom said in an interview. "I'm happy that we can show him that not everyone is bad and that there are some people out there with genuinely good hearts."
