The World’s Most Beautiful Tree Drowned A Temple In An Ocean Of Golden Leaves.

Travel |

If you thought your local autumn leaves were stunning, just wait until you see the golden leaves on this ancient Chinese gingko tree.

This tree is located within the walls of the Gu Guanyin Buddhist Temple in the Zhongnan Mountains in China. Every fall, the leaves on the 1,400-year-old tree turn bright yellow, creating an amazing contrast to the surrounding greenery and rooftops. Then, the leaves fall onto the ground to create a visually stunning landscape around the tree.

Each year, thousands of tourists travel to China to see this amazing gift of the changing seasons. You can see it for yourself in the photos below.

The temple next to the tree was built in the Tang dynasty, in year 628.

The tree is said to have been planted by the emperor himself.

Over the course of history, gingko trees have had a very real threat of becoming extinct, despite the fact that they once covered much of East Asia.

It was the tireless cultivation of the plant in China throughout the years that helped it survive.

Thanks to China, foliage enthusiasts can still be treated to this magnificent sight today.
