A Japanese Woman Adopted A Stray Cat. The Two Have Been Inseparable Ever Since.
A stray cat gave birth to a white kitten in a barn on Ihara Misao’s countryside property in Chiba Prefecture, east of Tokyo. The cat was soon adopted and given the name Fukumaru, which means ‘good fortune’ and ‘circle’ in Japanese.
The two have been inseparable ever since.
Whether she’s gardening, cooking, or napping, Fukumaru is always by Misao’s side.
Misao’s grand daughter, Ihara Miyoko, starting taking photos of her back in 2000. She wanted to compile a record of her grandmother’s life.
