Artist ‘Hears’ Colors Though An Amazing Device, But He Had To Drill A Hole In His Head.
"I don't feel that I use technology, I don't feel that I wear technology. I feel that I am technology."
That's just one quote from the Neil Harbisson in his amazing new short film, "Hearing Color." Harbisson has achromatopsia, a very rare condition that leaves 1 in 30,000 people completely colorblind. As an adult, Harbisson convinced doctors to put an antenna into the back of his head, and the antenna sends radio frequencies to his ears depending on what color he is standing in front of. In this way, he is able to actually hear the sounds that different color environments produce.
This short window into his world is truly fascinating - You're not going to believe what he says about hearing the color of people's skin.
