Judy Zappia met her husband George on a sailing trip. They fell in love and got married. The couple had a very active lifestyle. While hiking one day, Judy couldn’t feel her legs. Shortly after, she was diagnosed with progressive multiple sclerosis. Their lives changed in ways they never predicted, Judy went from being a busy runner and real estate agent to being confined to a wheel chair.
Judy heard about Helping Hands, a Boston-based national non-profit that raises and trains monkeys to assist people with special needs, and wrote them a letter. Watch what happened next.
Ned Sullivan was in a horrible accident in 2005 that left him paralyzed with a brain injury. Doctors said that he probably would never move, talk, or even breathe on his own, but with lots of hard work and support, Ned made a recovery and can breathe, speak, and has some mobility in his arms. He also has a big helper named Kasey, who has made a huge difference in his life.
