For awhile, the pair were very close.
Then, tragedy struck.
About a decade ago, Monique's brother Mikey was killed in a car accident.
Flash forward to today: Monique is doing well, and celebrating her 15th birthday. For Latinas, the 15th birthday is called the Quinceanera.
Her party seemed to be an amazing time for all, but for Monique is was especially important.
