We are our own toughest critics. We might not all be swayed by perfection or the glamorous lives of celebrities but even the most confident of us tend to point out our own flaws. The thing is, it takes a lot of energy to focus on the negatives. Not only that, it puts us further away from our own goals.
But it's a lot easier said than done. Even if we've come to embrace our flaws, we might still have to deal with the judgment of others. If a stranger strikes a few blows, it might not matter much. But when our loved ones, our parents for example, highlight our imperfections, the road to acceptance can feel lonely and rough.

Nick Vujicic was born without any limbs, but that didn't stop him from finding true love.
Vujicic is an Australian Christian evangelist with phocomelia, a rare congenital disorder in which the limbs are underdeveloped.
In 2005, he started the successful nonprofit Life Without Limbs. Despite his success, he wasn't sure he'd ever find true love.
"I'm Prince Charming with a couple bits and pieces missing," he joked in an interview.
But that all changed when he met Kanae Miyahara. The two are happily married and have two sons.
