Off the coast of Iceland is a small and beautiful archipelago named Vestmannaeyjar, which contains the island of Elliðaey. On this island is an enchanting little, solitary house.
Over the years, many have snapped photos of this home, from airplanes and boats, but not many really know the true nature of this little structure.

The island was actually inhabited about 300 years ago by five families, where they lived off the land in huts. By the 1930’s however, sustaining a community on Elliðaey became impractical, and the last two residents of the island moved away.

This little house is actually a lodge, and was built in 1953. It has no electricity or indoor plumbing, but it does have a sauna!

There are rumors that the lodge was donated to Björk, but most agree this is just speculation.
