Princess Diana once said, "Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you." Keep reading to see how a frightening situation quickly turned into a night that will not soon be forgotten. In fact, it may even inspire you!
Katie McClure was on her way to a friend's house when something that most women fear quickly became her reality.
It was 12:00 at night, and for the first time in Katie's life, she ran out of gas while driving on one of Philadelphia's freeways. Luckily for Katie, she ran out of gas in the right place.
Katie had never been in a situation like this one before.
"My heart was beating out of my chest. I pulled over as far as I could, and got out of the car to head to the nearest gas station," said Katie. When she got to the gas station Katie saw someone that she had recognized.
Johnny Bobbitt Jr. was at his usual spot in front of the gas station when Katie approached.
Johnny is a homeless veteran that Katie had seen from time to time. Katie never thought that 'the guy who hung out at the gas station' would one day become her hero.
Johnny had seen Katie pull over and he knew something was wrong.
Once he had found out that she had ran out of gas he told Katie to get back in her car, and lock the doors. Katie did as he said and walked back to her car.
After a few minutes Katie saw Johnny making his way to her car, but this time he had something in his hand!
Katie realized that is was a gas can that he was carrying. Johnny had committed the ultimate act of kindness.
