Read The Greatest Love Letter EVER Written. Thank You Johnny Cash.

Johnny and June Carter Cash were married for 35 years. Their love for each other has been documented in songs and the movie Walk the Line. But a deeper appreciation of their love can be felt in the letters below.

Johnny writes of their growing old together and how over the years they have come to be able to read each other's minds. How she still excites him and he idolizes her. Johnny is describing his thought and feelings about his soulmate.

So many times you hear of couples that have been together for long periods of time and when one dies, the other dies shortly after. June Cash died in May of 2003 with Johnny at her bedside, holding her hand. The loss of Johnny's soulmate was too much for the legend. He died 4 months later. They say Johnny Cash died from complications from diabetes, but, from the love letters below, I think it was from the loss of his soulmate.

After 26 years of marriage Johnny wrote this letter to his wife, June.

Happy Birthday Princess,

We get old and get use to each other. We think alike. We read each others minds. We know what the other wants without asking. Sometimes we irritate each other a little bit. Maybe sometimes take each other for granted.

But once in awhile, like today, I meditate on it and realize how lucky I am to share my life with the greatest woman I ever met. You still fascinate and inspire me. You influence me for the better. You’re the object of my desire, the #1 Earthly reason for my existence. I love you very much.

Happy Birthday Princess.

I love June Carter, I do. Yes I do. I love June Carter I do. And she loves me.

But now she's an angel and I'm not. Now she's an angel and I'm not.

Johnny Cash's last public performance!

I had the opportunity to see June and Johnny perform together. The love they shared was evident in every song they sang. They say everybody has a soulmate, I think they each found their's. RIP June and Johnny. May your love shine for ever.
