12 Haunting Photographs Of The Most Desolate Roads On Earth. #9 Is Eerily Beautiful.

The journey is more important than the destination. Photographer Andy Lee lives by this credo as he captures beautiful roads and highways in a collection naturally called Roads.

Lee began his career as a film maker. Ten years ago, while filming a documentary for charity in Ethiopia, Lee used an old Hasselblad camera to snap photos of the scenes around him. From that moment on, he was hooked.

Based in the United Kingdom, Lee chronicled his journeys from Scotland, Ireland and Iceland. The images capture landscapes that appear to be pulled from the pages of a mythical book, while others emulate highways that seemingly lead you to the end of the world.

Almost 60 years after Jack Kerouac’s book On the Road was published, Lee has applied the author’s influential quote “There was nowhere to go but everywhere.”

You can follow more of Lee’s photography journey on Facebook, Instagram and his website.
