This Guy Built A Kayak For His Dogs, And It Was The Best Thing He Ever Did.

David Bahnson is a retired orthopedic surgeon from Vermont, and one of his favorite hobbies to enjoy in retirement in kayaking. Out there on the beautiful water, nothing much could be better -- unless, of course, his dogs could come along.

Bahnson decided to make that dream a reality and built a custom kayak that could accommodate him and his two beloved pets. Now, the trio can adventure together all they please. Luckily for us, they can also take adorable photos in the process.

Bahnson built a custom kayak with seats that could accommodate both of his dogs. Bahnson saw how easily one of his dogs could fit inside the baggage compartment in his kayak when the cover was off. He added a ring of foam around the circumference so the dogs could be comfortable.

Look how magnificent they are, out there on the open water.

"They seem to love it," Bahnson said in an interview. "They get excited when we'd pull the kayaks out and see that we were going."

They do seem to be pretty contented with their new hobby.

"We've seen other people kayaking with their dogs," he said in the interview. "But they usually have them in the cockpit with them. That's kind of awkward, so this just worked out better. They each have a little dedicated space, and they just sit and enjoy the ride."
