When The Lifeguard Saw THIS In The Water He Only Had SECONDS To Act.

The ocean is an amazing place to swim. The salt water is therapeutic and far more calming that swimming in a lake (and definitely a pool) and bobbing in the brine is a fast way to feel connected with the world and nature around you. It's also a hell of a lot of fun.

The one drawback of swimming in the ocean is the fact that in the blink of an eye, the tides can change. A lot can go wrong: Currents pick up, you enter into a rip tide area, you don't realize that you're over you're head. And if you're not an experienced swimmer, things can get dangerous -- and sometimes, even life-threatening.

That's what happened to this little girl at Australia's Bondi Beach, but luckily, there was a vigilant lifeguard watching from the shore. See the dramatic rescue below: It's a somber reminder that when you're at the mercy of the water, you never know what could happen.

See the black spot in the center? That's actually the top of a little girl's head. At first, she looks like she's swimming.

But in reality, she's being carried away by the current.

Luckily, she was able to keep waving her arms, and a lifeguard spotted her from the shore.

The lifeguard's name was Terry.

Coincidentally, it wasn't long before this that Terry saved a child in a very similar situation. The child was rescued but later died in hospital.

For Terry. this was a chance at redemption.

He couldn't have saved the first child, but he was determined that the stars would align so he could save this little girl.

Time was against him, but eventually, he got to her.

He put her on his board so she could catch her breath while they went to shore. This little one was saved just in the nick of time.
