One Dad Gave Kids In Wheelchairs An Unforgettable Halloween.

One of the best parts about being a kid is realizing you have total autonomy over your own body, and you're free to run and jump and play to your heart's content. Unfortunately, children in wheelchairs don't get to experience those small pleasures. That's why one father wanted to make it up to them -- and just in time for Halloween..

Founded by Ryan Weimer, the nonprofit Magic Wheelchair gives children in wheelchairs the Halloween costumes of their dreams. Weimer himself has three children who have Spinal Muscular Atrophy, and all of them are in wheelchairs. It was when one of his son's requested to be a pirate for Halloween that Weimer got the idea: Instead of telling children they can't be what they want to be because of their wheelchair, build their dreams around their wheelchair.

Seven years from that moment, Magic Wheelchair was born. Weimer now has an entire team of people working on these wheelchair costumes.

"I don't believe that there are any goals, dreams, or aspirations in life that can't be achieved," said Weimer.

The wheelchair costumes are pretty epic, and often give the receivers the confidence they crave to participate in activities like other kids.

"Our vision is to put a smile on the face of every child in a wheelchair by transforming their wheelchairs into awesomeness created by our hands and their imaginations," said Weimer.

For kids in wheelchairs, Weimer's organization is definitely a game changer. With a little compassion and creativity, Halloween will never be the same.
