These Tiny Therapy Horses Are Exactly What The Doctor Ordered.
Therapy animals have proven to bring a great source of calm, comfort, and lift the spirits for people in need. Usually, the job is expected to be carried out by canines. For the last 20 years, however, the Gentle Carousel Miniature Therapy Horses have been making their rounds in hospitals, nursing homes, and survivors of traumatic and violent events such as the Sandy Hook shooting victims.
The miniature horses are calm and have been known to automatically sense which person is in need of their love the most. The not-for-profit organization based in Florida has been so successful that they now have offices in New York, California, and Greece.
The miniature horses are like their larger counterparts in terms of intelligence and personalities.
The horses go through intensive training for two years.
A woman refused to speak for three years when she was moved into a care facility. When she saw the horse named Magic she said, "isn't she beautiful?"
The horses helped child trafficking survivors.
The organization has 25 horses in Florida alone. The beautiful creatures travel all over the country.
The tiny horses visit 45,000 children and adults every year.
The animals sense who the person in the room needs them most. Their visits are mostly to people who are not mobile.
The gentle animals are also first responders for children who have lost a parent in the line of duty.
