Pregnant Women In Canada Are Getting This Huge Box In The Mail.
Canada is following in Finland’s footsteps. Since the late 1930’s, this Nordic country gives new parents a maternity box of essential items like re-usable diapers, bibs, thermometer, and a baby book among other things. When the products are taken out of the box, the cardboard turns into a crib which also comes with a small mattress.
Now the University of Calgary is starting their own baby boxes as part of their Welcome to Parenthood program. New moms will take their boxes home a couple months into the pregnancy. Researchers will keep in touch with mothers to study how they are adjusting to new life.
In the fall, more than 1,500 boxes were prepared to be given to expectant moms all over the province of Alberta.
The study hopes make the transition of bringing a new baby home easier.
