Starved Toddler Was Rescued With The Power Of Love… I’m In Tears.
On January 30, 2016, Anja Ringgren Lovén shared a photo where she is giving water to a starving toddler. The heartbreaking image of the famished and naked child in the streets of Nigeria, circulated around the world.
The two-year-old was accused of being a witch, a death sentence in this part of the world where the family and community shun the child, subjecting him or her to violence and eventual death. Lovén rescued the boy she named Hope and took him to the hospital for treatment. Almost two months later, the Danish woman and founder of African Children’s Aid Education and Development Foundation has shared a photo of Hope and the meaning behind his powerful name.
The photo that touched the hearts of millions of people around the world. Strangers wanted to know what happened to the little boy after Lovén wrapped him up in a blanket and took him to a hospital.
Hope is a happy child, gaining weight quickly. He was born with hypospadias, a genital birth defect which he will undergo surgery for.
