16 Photos Of Nirvana That You’ve Definitely Never Seen Before… I Hope That Guitar Was Insured.
It’s one of the most iconic album covers in rock and roll history, and it was also one the most controversial. When Nirvana released their “Nevermind” album, the general public was outraged at the idea that the band had fully submerged a baby underwater. Some of the even more sensitive members of the audience were scandalized by the fact that the baby was naked.
Of course, no babies were actually hurt during this shoot, and the image became synonymous with Nirvana’s name. Kirk Weddle was the photographer that took the shot. What most people don’t know is that after the baby was dried off and sent home with his mom, Weddle also convinced the band to take some photographs in the pool. In a recent interview, Weddle recalled that the band – specifically Kurt Cobain – wasn’t into it, but after awhile, they were all able to let loose and capture these amazing moments.
Until now, these photos haven’t been seen by the general public, but Weddle has made them available in light of the release of the Cobain HBO documentary, Montage of Heck . You can see a selection of the 200 photo set below.
