Don’t Be Alarmed. They Meant To Forget Their Pants…Everything Is Perfectly Normal.

On January 12 of this year, did you remember to go pant-free in public? The No Pants Subway Ride is an annual event conceived in 2002 by Improv Everywhere to prank innocent, unsuspecting New Yorkers. This small antic has grown to become an international event showcasing people’s underpants.

The premise of the event is simple: wear all of your winter gear including coat, toques, mittens, scarf and boots minus your pants. Each train stops and picks up pant-less passengers who get on nonchalantly.

The reaction from unsuspecting commuters is as entertaining as the colorful undies and knickers worn by the straight-faced pranksters.

Improv Everywhere’s mission is to “cause scenes of chaos and joy in public places.” Its objective has been met as the ‘No Pants’ movement has gained appeal in cities like London, Prague, Hamburg, Berlin, Warsaw and Bangalore.

What a great way to beat a boring morning commute in the bitter cold than seeing people in their underpants.
