The Oldest Man In Australia Found Out That Penguins Needed Help… So He Got Busy.

Sometimes, a story circulates around the Internet that has so many levels of cute that it's hard to know where to begin. First, let's look at the details in list form:

  • A 109-year-old man, who by age alone is quite possibly the most adorable person in the world.
  • Knitting, arguably the world's most adorable activity.
  • Penguins, which are some of the most precious animals in existence.

  • Sweaters, which are obviously the cutest, cuddliest pieces of apparel

    one can wear.

  • Penguins in peril, which is not adorable but has the potential to spark warm

feelings of charity from even the most hardened of humans.

  • Penguins in peril wearing sweaters knitted by a 109-year-old man: OMG

    YOU CAN'T EVEN.

Australian Alfie Date has been knitting sweaters for injured and ill penguins since 2013. His hobby began when the nurses at the retirement community he resides at asked him to knit sweaters for penguins hurt by oil spills. Alfie had been knitting since the 30's, and couldn't refuse a penguin in need.

9 STORIES SCREENGRAB

Alfie's knitting started a movement, and the Australian Penguin Foundation has received knitwear donations from all over the world. Though they now have more than enough penguin sweaters to go around, you can still "adopt" one of these penguins by donating to the foundation. Check out the website for more info!
