She Convinced Her Parents She Was Traveling In Asia… But She Was Lying.

With the right amount of Photoshopping skills, you can make people believe just about anything.

That's exactly what Zilla van den Born, a Dutch graphic design student, decided to do. For five weeks, van den Born Photoshopped photos of herself to send to her family, making them believe that she was on a whirlwind vacation throughout Southeast Asia. In reality, she never left Amsterdam city limits. Her project was meant to be a prank, but was also intended to show how easily we can distort our lives on social media.

Her photos are extremely well-edited, and would fool just about anybody. Check out her fake-cation below.

After about five weeks, she revealed the truth to her shocked family and friends. Many of them were quite taken aback.

In an interview, van den Born said she probably wouldn't do it again, stating "If I had the chance to do it again, I don’t think I would do it again. I really underestimated the impact of the project on myself and the people around me!”
