He Quit His Job As A Wall St Banker To Open The Kindest Pizzeria In America.

Rosa’s Fresh Pizza serves delicious slices of the Italian delight with a pay-it-forward attitude. Mason Wartman, 27, left his Wall Street career as an equity researcher to start his own pizzeria in Philadelphia in 2013. Named after his mom, the business took its $1 per slice idea from Manhattan where such shops are popular.

Last March a customer wanted to buy a pizza for someone in need. A lightbulb went on for Wartman to get Post-It notes with a smiley face symbolizing the free slice. The idea took off and now the notes carry messages of love and encouragement like “God is Love,” “blessed” to “help everyone.”

Wartman wants all his patrons to be treated the same way regardless of who paid for the food. “They deserve to eat in the store and enjoy the music as much as any other paying customer would.”

Wartman estimates the pay-it-forward notes feed approximately 30 to 40 people per day.

For every Rosa's t-shirt purchase, the shop gives away seven slices of pizza.

If you're ever in Philly, be sure to stop by and have a slice!
