This Beautiful Disney Princess Is Actually A Guy, And His Story Is A Fairytale.
Disney princesses have a lot in common. They all have beautiful skin, flowing hair, and a wardrobe that would make any body stop and stare. They also all happen to be women -- but this 21-year-old from Orange County is proving that you don't have to be a chick to be the most beautiful princess in all the land.
His name is Richard Schaefer, and in-between his gigs as a freelance makeup artist, he transforms himself into a beautiful array of all the Disney princesses he knew and loved as a kid. It's definitely a labor of love for him, and also one that was inspired by hardships during his younger years. His struggles and attention to honing his craft have definitely paid off. Using his contouring, highlighting, and otherwise enviable makeup skills, Schaefer proves that being a true princess pushes well beyond the boundaries of gender. See his amazing -- and extraordinarily accurate -- transformations below.
This is Richard Schaefer. He started his journey to being a princess by cosplaying his favorite characters, over four years ago
However, the true beginning of his love affair with Disney characters started when he was much, much younger.
As you can see, his transformations are so good that many are shocked to find out he's actually a man.
"I think it’s a real compliment when people think that I’m a female cosplayer because it means that my transformations must be convincing," he said in an interview.
According to Schaefer, each transformation takes about two hours to complete.
There is a deeper level to Schaefer's story as well. Bullied as a teen for his weight, he used makeup and costumery as a creative outlet. All things considered, his love of Disney princesses -- and transforming into them -- totally makes sense.
"I decided to start cosplaying as princesses because of how androgynous people used to say I was,’ he recalls. ‘Curiosity got the best of me, so I decided to transform myself into my favorites."
