Recycled Old Junk Transformed Into The Most Incredible Street Art You’ll Ever See.
As consumers, we buy and dispose of products at an alarming rate and have a tendency to change our taste as quickly as the next trend hits. What we leave in our wake is mounds of garbage that quite often, cannot be recycled further compounding the problem of overflowing landfills.
One artist, Artur Bordalo aka Bordalo II, is using that very trash to create street sculptures in his native Portugal. There is enough garbage available for Bordalo II to build enormous installations, some as big as two or three story buildings.
Each art piece is intended to raise awareness of the impact our throw-away society has on animals. One creature for example, the Portuguese heron, used to migrate to warmer climate in the winter. Climate change and unseasonably hot weather has changed the natural migration pattern of this bird that now remains in the country throughout the year.
