928 Pompoms Were Used To Create An Optical Illusion That Will Break Your Brain.
When you look in a mirror, do you like what you see looking back at you? With Daniel Rozin's anthropomorphic "PomPom Mirror," we can assure you that the answer to that question will always be "yes."
The mirror features a synchronized system of 928 spherical faux fur puff balls. The device relies on motion sensors and 464 motors to create a mirrored "reflection" of the person standing in front of it, and the mirror reacts just as quickly as the viewer. The PomPom Mirror is just one part of Rozin's work, which includes a series of interactive installations that use motors to move objects like pegs, trash, and fans.
This particular contraption is especially amusing because of it's ability to recreate the viewer's actions so quickly.
