These Dogs Are Flying On A Private Jet, But That’s Not Even The Best Part…
Sometimes, when a shelter can no longer care for the animals that live there, or if the shelter becomes overcrowded, euthanizing the animal becomes the only option.
Wings of Rescue, a nonprofit based in Van Nuys, California, wanted to help.
Thanks to a team of volunteer pilots, Wings of Rescue is able to provide rescue to animals to spare them from an untimely fate.
Since 2008, the organization has saved the lives of over 12,000 dogs.
California is a particularly risky place for sheltered animals to be, since most shelters are high-kill.
However, thanks to these amazing pilots, these animals can be whisked to safety.
They are brought to foster homes, humane societies, or another shelter that can house them.
The organization uses private and charter planes to transport the dogs, and the flights only cost about $80.
The pilots are all volunteers, and the cost of transporting the animals comes 100% from donations.
