This Guy Planted Thousands Of SMELLY Flowers… Because True Love Does Exist.
Mr. and Mrs. Kuroki have been married since 1956, living a simple live in the Japanese countryside. After 30 years of marriage, something terrible happened: Mrs. Kuroki lost her eyesight due to complications with diabetes.
Devastated, she sunk into a depression. She shut herself into their home and refused to venture out into the world, basically going into a life of seclusion. Mr. Kuroki couldn't stand to see his wife in such despair, so he decided to do something amazing: He figured out a way to make the world come to her.
Mr. Kuroki planted this amazing carpet of pink flowers called shibazakura, or moss phlox. The garden sits on his private residence -- but 7,000 people a day visit when it's in bloom.
You see, Mr. Kuroki planted these gorgeous blooms for his wife, so that she might be able to smell them and smile again.
The foundation for the garden took him two years, but today it is an incredibly popular attraction.
Mr. Kuroki did this because he realized that his wife didn't have to see these flowers to enjoy them -- should could simply smell their beauty.
Their love story is part of what makes the garden so special, and so frequently visited by tourists.
And as you can see, the garden served it's main purpose: To put a smile on Mrs. Kuroki's face.
