These Dogs Were Saved From Death Row For A VERY Important Reason.
For veterans who fight overseas, adjusting to life back in the states isn't always easy.
“I had been through all the treatments I could possibly go through that I was aware of at the VA and I just needed something else because it just wasn’t enough,” said veteran William Mosley in an interview.
That's why veterans like Mosley are turning to Veterans K-9 Solutions, a nonprofit that takes dogs off of death row in shelters and trains them to be service dogs for former soldiers. The dogs are put through a weeks-long training program, and recently, they were finally able to go home with their new owners for the first time.
The VA doesn't recognize service dogs as therapy, which has inspired organizations like Veterans K-9 Solutions to put it in practice on their own.
The dogs allow veterans to feel more comfortable interacting in their communities, particularly those former soldiers who suffer from PTSD.
The organization believes that caring for a dog can help aid in the healing process for veterans, and judging by the photos below, they're right.
