This Sloth Crossed The Road… At Least That Was The ORIGINAL Plan.
You may have seen this image already, an adorable photo of a sloth clinging to a pole on a highway in Ecuador. Until now, though, you might not know the story behind this delightful image.
As sloths are the world's slowest creatures, it's understandable that they might have a tough time crossing a busy road. This little guy couldn't quite make it, and instead clung to a pole for a break. After being alerted to his presence, Ecuadorian transit authorities headed out to save the little guy.
As you can see, the sloth probably wasn't planning on leaving any time soon.
Luckily, officers were there to help out.
Slowly (very slowly), they encouraged the sloth to let go of the pole and get to safety.
He was treated at a nearby hospital and then released into the wild -- but not before someone snapped this legendary picture.
Next, meet the woman who lives with 200 sloths.
