With Two Shovels And A Lot Of Love They Did Something AWESOME For This Grieving Husband.
Sometimes, we hear about a love story that is so true and so pure that we can't help but tear up. The story of Buddy and Betty Caldwell is one of those stories. Before you read their tale and look at the photos, be sure to grab a tissue (and maybe someone to hug).
This is Buddy Caldwell. He's 82 years old.
This is Buddy's wife, Betty Caldwell.
This picture was taken before they were married.
Bud and Betty were married for nearly 56 years.
This is Betty looking radiant on their wedding day.
This is Bud today.
Unfortunately, Betty isn't with him.
Sadly, Betty passed away two years ago.
Buddy had this plaque made and put on a park bench to honor Betty's memory.
Visiting Betty is the best part of Buddy's day.
He visits the bench every day, rain or shine.
He also leaves something special behind.
Each day. Buddy brings Betty a single daisy and a single penny. He leaves these tokens of love because the couple's favorite songs were "Pennies From Heaven" and "A Daisy a Day."
Recently, the heavy snowfall made visiting Betty impossible.
Buddy couldn't walk the path to Betty's bench because there was too much snow on the ground. Defeated, he went back to his car and talked to Betty from there.
Luckily, these two gentlemen were here to help.
Jerrod Ebert and Kevin Schultz got shovels and cleared the path for Bud.
Buddy's love for Betty even moved them to tears.
"We have to make sure he can get to his bench and talk to his wife," said Ebert.
Now Buddy can easily reach his beloved for their daily visit.
And you can be certain that he'll leave a daisy and a penny behind.
