This 10 Year-Old Soccer Fan With Down’s Syndrome Was Given A Day He’ll Never Forget.
10-year-old Jay Beatty has Down's syndrome. However, that doesn't affect his love for his favorite soccer team, Scotland's Celtic. During a recent home game, the club invited Jay to spend the day with them. He had the opportunity to meet all of the team players before the game. At half time, Jay was allowed to take a penalty kick. The 6,007 fans in attendance took to their feet and cheered for the boy. This incredible show of sportsmanship was all caught on camera.
Jay's mom had this to say. “I have left the best to Last…when Jay was born We hoped and prayed that People would treat him with respect, Because of his love of the greatest club in the world his life has become a Dream come true, we thought 2014 was just amazing but today was something else and to have a whole stadium including the Hamilton fans chanting your sons name will live with me forever. I will never forget it and cannot thank you all enough for making my Sons life…We are a club like no other with Fans like no other and we are so proud of you all…Hail Hail”.
