Rey’s Instant Bread From 'Star Wars’ Is Real… Here’s How You Make It.
Remember Rey's clever cookery in Star Wars: The Force Awakens? If you need a refresher, here's how it went down: Rey received her food after making a deal with the junk traders, takes her portion back home, and adds it to water. Just like that, it turns into bread.
It might sound like a food item that's exclusively for sci-fi, but one Internet chef has figured out how to do it in real life. Jenn Fujikawa has shared a detail recipe for how to make the bread, and it's actually pretty cool. The best part? It takes just under a minute.
The recipe requires vegetable oil, cake flour, sugar, matcha powder, baking powder, salt, milk, and vanilla. Pretty simple, considering what it can do.
To make the cake, simply combine all the ingredients together in a mug and microwave it for 45 seconds. And with that, the Star Wars cake has become a delicious reality.
1/2 teaspoon vegetable oil
4 tablespoons cake flour
1-1/2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon matcha powder
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
pinch of salt
2 tablespoons whole milk
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1. Place the oil in a mug and swirl around to grease the inside.
2. Add the cake flour, sugar, matcha powder, baking powder and salt into the mug, stirring together.
3. Pour in the milk and vanilla, then cook in the microwave on high for 45 seconds.
4. Let cool slightly and serve.
