Watch This Mom Strip Down To Her Undies In Public. The Reason Why Is Powerful.
Amy Pence-Brown was inspired by an experiment conducted in London, England. A young woman and an eating disorder survivor stood on the street in her underwear and bra encouraging strangers to draw hearts on her body in support of self-acceptance.
Pence-Brown wondered if people would be as welcoming if the woman was a “fat,” 40-year-old mom of three. So, on a busy Saturday, Pence-Brown stood blindfolded in a black bikini with a sign asking for hearts to be drawn on her body as well. The body-activist was scared the police would ask her to leave or worse, people would be mean. Check out the video and photos below to see what happened instead.
Pence-Brown became inspired after learning of an experiment conducted in London by an eating disorder survivor.
The mother of three stood on a busy market in Boise, Idaho, asking strangers to draw hearts on her in support of self-acceptance.
She received the hearts as well as words of encouragement written on her.
"I was scared that I might get asked to leave by the police or that people would yell terrible things at me or that no one would draw a heart on my body and I'd stand there alone and crying for minutes that felt like hours." - Pence-Brown
Throughout the hour-long experiment she was thanked for doing something beautiful and brave.
"We can't truly love one another until we fully love ourselves. And once we do, I guarantee that together we can move mountains."
"I was a chubby kid turned curvy teen turned fat mother, but have been at peace with my body for many years. I was hoping this project would help others do the same."
