Tea-Seller Became A Model After ONE Photo Went Viral Online.
Back in the good old days, models used to get discovered while walking down a street. Today, you don’t have to be a model scout to give someone the chance to be a top model. With the power of social media, the world is becoming smaller. A photo, commentary, or video can be shared around the world within seconds.
That may explain why you have Instagram celebrities who share their talent for millions to see. Still, these individuals are seeking online fame. Others are simply thrust into the spotlight. 18-year-old Arshad Khan does not own a phone to take selfies of his piercing, clear blue eyes. Still, one photo of him has made him an online heartthrob.
The teen owes his sudden fame to photographer Jiah Ali. The shutterbug took Khan’s photo as part of her street series that she shared on Twitter. Khan had no idea saying yes to his photo being taken would change his life overnight.
Arshad Khan has been selling tea in a bazaar in Islamabad for years. He also sells fruits and vegetables at his stand.
You may remember the famous and iconic photo of the young Afghan girl on the cover of the National Geographic magazine's June 1986 issue. Khan is part of the same Pashtun ethnic group.
Khan was quickly signed on to a modelling contract. His first job has been to model for a clothing line called Fitin.pk.
Ali in the green dress is a wedding and freelance photographer. She does not want to take credit for Khan's sudden fame, she feels she was just there at the right place and the right time.
Many are encouraging Khan to get into acting. He says he will consider it if it's "clean, honourable work."
