This Tortoise Wears A Frilly Dress… And The Reason Will Make Your Heart Glad.
Wasabi wasn't always the friendly, outgoing tortoise that she is today. When Lisa Chicarella adopted her, she was incredibly shy: She wouldn't come out of her shell for two weeks.
WIth a little tender love and care, that all changed. Now, Wasabi is probably one of the most outgoing and affectionate tortoises out there. In fact, her personality made her the perfect candidate to become a therapy animal.
Wasabi is a 42-pound African spur tortoise. She's lived with Lisa Chicarella for eight years.
She's incredibly energetic and friendly, and those qualities make her a great therapy pet.
Her winning personality is unusual for a tortoise, who generally like to play it cool. Does it look like she's cracking a smile here?
Wasabi spends her time at nursing homes and schools, entertaining patients and residents with her charm - and her custom-made dresses.
Her outfits are instant hits with her patients, many of whom need all the help they can get to make them smile.
Needless to say, Wasabi is one adorable companion.
