Ontario Couple Quit Their Glamorous Jobs To Travel Around In VW Van.
Some folks dream about retiring someday, so they can buy a Winnebago and travel across the country. But one couple decided that they really didn't want to wait until they were older. Instead, they decided to quit a lucrative job, and head on the road. Now this sounds like a dream come true, and we'd certainly jump at the chance to do what they did. But first, they needed some wheels, and instead of a Winnebago, they opted for something a bit more unusual.
Most folks spend their 30s, 40s, and even 50s, trying to climb that corporate ladder.
Not everyone imagines clawing their way towards a CEO position. Lisa Felepchuk, 33, and her boyfriend, Coleman Molnar, 31, wanted to take their life on the road.
Lisa used to be an editor-in-chief of a women's luxury lifestyle magazine.
Instead, of allowing her company to fly her to Paris to watch fashion shows, she opted for a new life, which involved sleeping in the back of an old camper van with her boyfriend and her kitty.
As you can see, Coleman doesn't have a care in the world either, except for Lisa of course.
Coleman worked as a digital editor for a men's magazine, but the whole nine-to-five gig just didn't satisfy him. So, he decided to release his shackles and embrace freedom in this 1983 VW Vanagon Westfalia.
The used camper van, required a bit of refurbishing before they went on the road.
It cost $8,000 just to modify the van so it would be comfy enough for everyone. Admittedly, it can be a little cramped in some areas, but Lisa isn't really complaining.
The huge advantage to living this way is that the couple could say goodbye to monotony.
With their old jobs behind them, the couple decided that freelance writing was a far better option, and it allowed them to control the amount of work and number of hours they worked.
