A Waitress Gave Tired Firefighters A Free Meal. What Happened Next Is Unbelievable.
In New Jersey, there are two dedicated firefighters named Paul Barb and Tim Young. Recently, they spent 12 exhausting hours putting out a fire, and once their work was done they headed to a local cafe for a much-needed cup of coffee.
Liz Woodward was their waitress, and unbeknownst to the firefighters, she was listening in on their conversation. Impressed by what they had just accomplished, Woodward decided to do something extra special for the local heroes.
This is Paul Barb and Tim Young, the two local firefighters who dined at the cafe where Liz Woodward works.
When it came time to pay the bill, she handed them this instead.
The story could have ended on a happy note there, but the firefighters took it one step further.
After being moved by her gesture, the pair learned that Woodward's father is a quadiplegic, and that she was trying to raise money to get him a wheelchair accessible vehicle.
The firemen then returned to Facebook and wrote: “Turns out, the young lady who gave us a free meal is really the one that could use the help.” They requested online donations raising over $70,000 for Woodward's family.
The fundraising is still going strong, and Woodward's father will definitely get the vehicle he needs.
This story goes to show you that a little kindness can go a long, long way. “All I did was pay for their breakfast," Woodward said in an interview. "I didn’t expect anything more than a smile."
